13-Year-Old Boy Killed In Road Rage Incident That Injured His Mother, Brother
What started as an ordinary trip to the dentist’s office turned into tragedy when a 13-year-old boy was killed in front of his mother during a road rage shooting spree.
Meghan Bigelow, 41, had just made it to the Denver office with her three sons Vaughn, 13, Cooper, 12, and Asa, eight, when a man shot them multiple times.
Vaughn was killed and Bigelow and Asa remain hospitalized. Cooper was able to run away during the incident without injury.
Jeremy Webster, 23, has confessed to the killings, according to police. He faces 20 charges, including first-degree murder.
Bigelow and Webster got into an argument on a busy street corner as she drove her children to the dentist around 3pm last Thursday.
The eldest boy died from his injuries.
Webster allegedly also made eye contact with another driver, a man in a pickup truck with his daughter, and shot at the truck as well.
The pickup driver, John Gale, who was hit in his arms, threw his truck into reverse and fled with his unharmed child.
Bigelow’s third son, 12-year-old Cooper, who was unhurt as he ran when Webster brought out his gun, said his t mom took a photograph of Webster’s license plate before they got out of their car.
Authorities who found that image on Bigelow’s phone were able to track Webster’s vehicle and arrest him about three hours later on Interstate 25 heading toward his home in Colorado Springs, according to the affidavit.
On Monday Webster was denied bail by Adams County Judge Donald Quick during his first court appearance. He is under investigation for first-degree murder after deliberation with intent, first-degree murder with extreme indifference, first-degree assault and criminal attempt to commit a Class 1 felony. He is due back in court Thursday to be formally charged.
