Chris Brown Slams Viewers Choice Award Nomination, Says Award Shows Are Fake And Lie To Fans
Chris Brown may be nominated for a Viewers’ Choice Award for this month’s upcoming 2016 BET Awards, but don’t expect the “Grass Ain’t Greener” singer to be too upset if he doesn’t win the fan-voted category.
On Sunday, Chris Brown took to Instagram to weigh in with his thoughts on award shows while claiming that entertainment networks “lie to fans” in an attempt to increase viewer engagement.
The exchange began after one fan took to Instagram to share an update on the number of votes received for the current top three nominees in the Viewers’ Choice Award category, which includes Beyoncé for her track, “Formation,” Rihanna featuring Drake for their collaborative hit, “Work,” and Brown for his sultry “Back To Sleep” single that dropped earlier this year.
In response to the update, one fan commented on the user’s post by encouraging other Chris Brown fans to continue sending in their votes to help Brown win the Viewers’ Choice Award category, writing, “CMON GUYS..WE WANT BREEZY TO WIN! LINK IN BIO! #IChooseBreezy #ChrisBrown #BETAwards.”
Despite the fan’s encouragement, Chris Brown took to the post to share his thoughts on the award show while warning fans not to be “fooled” by industry networks and their award programs.
