Flood Destroys Property Worth Millions In Imo
Serious down pour in Imo State on Thursday led to flooding, which destroyed properties worth millions of Naira in Owerri the State capital.
The rain, which is the third of the of the year, started in the wee hours of yesterday, accompanied by serious thunderstorm.
Some part of the State Capital affected by the flood include parts of Douglas Road, Christ Church Road and some of the adjoining streets in Owerri municipality.
While lamenting her loss, a trader, Mama Caro, said “some traders in the Main Market and Relief Market, especially those that never envisaged the rainfall, suffered serious economic setback, following the destruction of their wares.”
Also, billboards and posters carrying political messages were not spared.
According to Mazi Rufus Chika, who residences in the State Capital, the flood was caused by the abandonment of the monthly clean up exercise.
