Sweet Love: Childhood Sweethearts Married For Nearly 75 Years, Dies In Each Other’s Arms
The love story of Jeanette and Alexander Toczko is one that is simple and epic at the same time.
California couple Alexander and Jeannette Toczko where both born in 1919, met when they were 8 years old and began dating years later. They got married in 1940.
“My dad carried around a picture of my mother in her Holy Communion outfit in his wallet,” Aimee Toczko-Cushman, the couple’s daughter, told ABC affiliate KGTV.
“Their hearts beat as one from as long as I can remember.”
And the love lovebirds’ wish was granted days before their 75th anniversary.
Aimee Tockzo-Cushman said that days before their 75th anniversary, on Jun 17th, their mother kept asking them what the day was.
“She kept asking us, ‘What is today, what is today?’ We said it was June. She said it’s June 29th, and June 29th is their 75th wedding anniversary,” Aimee Toczko-Cushman said.
And so the children pretended it was June 29th and they threw their parents their 75th anniversary party. After the celebration, their father Alexander died in the embrace of his wife.
“He died in her arms, which is exactly what he wanted. I went in there and told my mother he was gone; she hugged him and she said, ‘See this is what you wanted. You died in my arms and I love you. I love you, wait for me, I’ll be there soon,’”
People Mag reports that the couple was buried on June 29th, on their true anniversary.
