Spanish Matador Fighting For Life In Hospital After Being Gored Three Times In Bullring
A Spanish matador is fighting for his life in hospital after being gored three times while performing in a world-famous bullring.
Pablo Belando was carried out of Madrid’s world-famous Las Ventas bullring and rushed to hospital after being mauled in his chest, leg and buttocks.
The incident comes just two weeks after Victor Barrio became the first matador killed in the ring in nearly 30 years.
The 26-year-old, from Murcia in south east Spain, is described as being in a “very serious” an needed an hour-long emergency operation after being helped out of the ring.
Doctors said the most worrying injury was the one to his chest as the bull’s horn had penetrated his lung cavity and broken a rib.
The gore wound to his right leg is nearly eight inches long and the one to his gluteus, caused as the animal charged him while he lay prostrate on the ground after being upended, four inches long.
He is currently in intensive care in Madrid’s San Francisco de Asis Hospital after emergency medical care in a hospital next to the bullring.
